One hundred years ago, in many small towns and farming communities, the house dance was a common form of neighborhood entertainment. Dancers of all ages, from grandparents to grandchildren, would dress themselves in their best clothes and crowd together in the front parlor or dining room. Local musicians would play the music. The dance caller would organize and direct the circles and squares and waltzes and polkas. Refreshments would be served halfway through the evening. | |
| Anyone who has a suitable living room (or front porch or basement or garage) can host a FriendsOnTheRange house dance. House dances are also a wonderful way to celebrate birthdays, anniversaries, graduations, and other important occasions. Please call 218-666-5990 for more information. |
