FriendsOnTheRange

FriendsOnTheRange has performed for dances and concerts in Minnesota and Wisconsin since 1996 and was the house band for the Home On The Range community dances from 1998 to 2010. Founding members Jim Ganahl and Carol Booth form the nucleus of the band. Jim plays accordion, concertina, trumpet, and didgeridoo, and he also teaches the dances and sings lead vocals. Carol plays the piano and calls most of the dances. Joey Kenig plays acoustic guitar. Joey Lee plays flute and pennywhistle. Susan Hoppe plays fiddle. Melissa Long plays clarinet and saxophone.

FriendsOnTheRange plays Irish and American music for group and couple dances including jigs, reels, waltzes, polkas, schottisches, contra dances, circle dances, and playparty games. Jim and Carol have both learned the unique skill of playing a tune and calling a dance at the same time. They provide friendly dance instruction for dancers of all ages and abilities, and they design their dance programs to meet the special requirements of each group of dancers. With a change of hats, FriendsOnTheRange can also perform a complete program of cowboy songs.

FriendsOnTheRange is available for wedding ceremonies, wedding dances, family reunions, birthday parties, graduation parties, community dances, house dances, dance workshops, and other festive occasions.
